Trainer Bob Pfeiffer prepares a prop which will
be used to demonstrate heat loss in "critical junctions", found in
many of Madison's
cape-cod homes.
This section of the prop represents a knee wall
attic section.
Basement rim joists are notorious for air
leakage, heat loss and mold growth. Home-owners learned methods to
cost-effectively seal and insulate these areas.
Attendees learn how Sustain
Dane’s Rain Reserve Rain Barrels are a great way to harvest rain water for
outdoor uses, reducing not only water use but the electricity used to pump and
heat water.
Focus on Energy was on hand
to answer questions about energy efficiency and financial incentives for
installing renewable energy.
Attendees watch cellulose being "dense-pack
blown" into a see-through wall cavity, allowing them to understand how
this effective wall insulation retrofit procedure works.
