Madison can count on you to

cut travel emissions

When you are on the go, stop and consider forms of transportation that can reduce emissions. You can start to cut car emissions by ride sharing, riding Madison Metro, Community Car, biking and walking.

If you are a small business, a new program is on the horizon that allows you to take part in the discounted bus ride program currently offered to large employers.

To calculate your vehicle emissions and potential savings (cars and trucks are responsible for one third of air pollution) use the EPA green vehicle guide and this carbon calculator.

Rules of the road say you’ll save one pound of carbon dioxide for every mile you don’t drive! Every gallon of gasoline saved keeps 20 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. But if you have to drive, and don’t want to guzzle, take note of other efficiency measures like keeping your tires inflated properly – that can improve gas mileage by more than 3%!
