We
would like to be an Mpowered ChaMpion because our company, our
community, and the environment will benefit from the recognition and
assistance gained from becoming an Mpowered ChaMpion. Many companies in
our same situation (lease of shared office space) think there is not
much they can do to be more green because they don’t manufacture a
product when there is a lot that can really be done.

Capitol has a REEF
committee (Reducing Employees’ Ecological Footprint) consisting of four
contributing members. The purpose of the committee is to provide other
employees with options and information on making environmentally
friendly decisions, as well as make recommendations to the company for
ways to become more environmentally conscious.
Through the
REEF committee, the company provides all employees and all new hires
with a large coffee mug to use in lieu of paper or Styrofoam cups for
coffee and water. Employees and new hires are also given a large
fabric shopping bag and the option of purchasing additional bags for $1
each. The committee puts out a monthly e-letter for employees
to access with information on some of the latest news and tips on
“living more green.”
